Supported Monk Orders

This page is intended to summarize the monastic orders that have a very strong presence in the south. Characters seeking participation in one of these groups will enjoy various avenues of roleplay as well as mechanical benefits for their kits.

The Broken Ones
This monastic order worships Ilmater. As a benefit of Ilmater's teachings, monks belonging to the Broken Ones may multiclass freely as Clerics, meaning they do not become Ex-Monks for doing so.

The Dark Moon
This dark and secret monastic order worships Shar. As a benefit of Shar's teachings, monks belonging to the Dark Moon may multiclass freely as Sorcerers, meaning they do not become Ex-Monks for doing so.

The Shining Hand
This monastic order worships Azuth. As a benefit of Azuth's teachings, monks belonging to the Shining Hand may multiclass freely as wizards, meaning they do not become Ex-Monks for doing so.

The Sun Soul
This monastic order worships Lathander, Selune, and Sune. As a benefit of these teachings, monks belonging to the Sun Soul may multiclass freely as one other class, meaning they do not become Ex-Monks for doing so.

Other Monks
Other monk orders exist in the Realms, but their centers of power, influence, and knowledge are far away. While there is no penalty facing monks belonging to other orders, they do not enjoy additional support in terms of the setting or mechanics.
